Fourth of July is upon us, the perfect time to host a gathering with family and close friends. What better way to celebrate than over fireworks, good food, drinks and tasty desserts?
Speaking of desserts…you know that I am all about a themed celebration. I would like to share one of my favorite, Patriotic themed desserts for the Fourth of July Holiday. It is always a hit with our family. Thanks to my beautiful sister, each year we can indulge in one of the best desserts ever, Red, White and Blue Poke Cake.
If you are searching for a way to spice up your dessert menu at this year’s holiday celebration, this is it! This dessert is not only delish, it is also very easy to make.
Red, White and Blue Poke Cake Recipe
1 (18.25 oz.) packaged white cake mix
1 (8oz.) tub of cool whip, thawed
1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Strawberry Flavor
1 cup boiling water
½ cup cold water
1 pint blueberries, rinsed and drained
2 pints fresh strawberries, rinsed and sliced
- Prepare cake according to package directions and bake in a 9x13 inch pan. Cool cake in pan 15 min. Pierce cake with large fork at 1/2-inch intervals.
- Add boiling water to gelatin mix in small bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water; pour over cake. Refrigerate 3 hours.
- Frost cake with COOL WHIP. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Add strawberries and blueberries for American flag design
